Planet Performance has pledged its commitment to honest and fair trading by joining thousands of other responsible garages up and down the country, by signing up to the Motor Industry Code of Practice for Service and Repair.

The new Code, currently progressing through the Office of Fair Trading's approval scheme, is a fully independent, consumer-focussed scheme backed by industry, government and consumer groups.

Launched in August 2008, the Code safeguards consumer interests by helping to identify responsible garages and encouraging the sector to set and maintain a high standard of customer service. Developed to respond to consumer concerns over pricing, quality of work and customer service, it offers motorists:

  • An online search facility allowing consumers to locate their nearest subscribing garage
  • A free consumer advice line (0800 692 0825)
  • Free conciliation and low-cost, legally binding arbitration

The Motor Industry Code of Practice for Service and Repair commits garages to an open and fair way of doing business. By subscribing to the Code, Planet Performance is demonstrating its commitment to operate as a responsible business. Planet Performance has therefore pledged to:

  • provide honest and fair services
  • complete work as agreed
  • provide open and transparent pricing
  • issue invoices that match quoted prices
  • employ competent and conscientious staff
  • operate a straightforward, swift complaints procedure

More than 5,000 garages in the UK have already subscribed to the Code which is currently progressing through the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) Consumer Codes Approval Scheme. It has completed the first stage of this process and is operated by Motor Codes Ltd, the organisation set up to administer a suite of automotive consumer codes. All Unipart Car Care Centres offer the following service pledge

We will provide you with a fully itemised, written estimate including VAT before working on your car and will if you wish provide firm written quotations where we can.
If we identify work additional to that you have permitted us to undertake while your car is in our workshop, we will contact you to inform you of the cost and whether the work is essential or advisable so that you can make an informed decision about how you would like us to proceed.
Our technicians have the skills required to complete the job on your car in a professional manner and we will check your car against the work undertaken before returning it to you, retaining replaced parts for inspection should you wish us to do so for at least 24 hours after you have collected the car.
We choose to fit parts of equivalent quality to those originally fitted by the manufacturer of your vehicle. That is why we fit Unipart parts whenever we can.
We offer a personal, nationwide, 12 months/12,000 mile parts and labour guarantee* on all work involving the replacement of parts.
Our objective is to complete the work on your vehicle on time. If - for whatever reason - your car is not going to be ready as promised, we will make every effort to contact you in good time.
At the end of each job our invoice will detail what we have done including what parts we have replaced and we will inform you of any work we identified in the course of the job which need not be undertaken immediately, but may soon be required.
We will record all the servicing completed on your vehicle in your service record book or Unipart Car Care Centre Record Book. This may enhance the resale value of your vehicle by demonstrating that you have had it regularly maintained by a quality garage.
A qualified member of staff will also be available to answer quickly and courteously any questions or problems you may have but in the unlikely event of us being unable to resolve a problem to your satisfaction, we offer the free services of - and will abide by the decision made by - an independent arbitration service. Above all, we pride ourselves in always offering high standards of workmanship and friendly, helpful service.
* In the unlikely event of a replaced part failing due to incorrect fitment or the part itself being faulty, we offer the added reassurance of free parts and labour for replacement within 12 months or 12000 miles commencing from the date of original fitment, whichever is the earlier. This can be carried out either by us or any participating Unipart Car Care Centre throughout the UK, each of which has agreed to offer the same guarantee. Your statutory rights are not affected.

This can be carried out either by the original Unipart Car Care Centre who undertook the repair or any other participating Unipart Car Care Centre throughout the UK, each of which has agreed to offer the same guarantee Your statutary rights are not affected.


Important

Please keep any invoice for repairs undertaken by a Unipart Car Care Centre in your vehicle as proof of purchase of the goods detailed thereon. Look out for the Nationwide Guarantee logo on your Unipart Car Care Centre invoice.
